Weird mechanical event, 2000 Civic
My daughter is in college and drives a 2000 Honda Civic EX Coup.
She called to tell me one day last week that, twice in that day, when she was either stopped with the brake pedal pressed, or slowing down to turn into a driveway, she felt a large jolt as if her car were hit by something. That's the best she could describe it. In the first case, the car was standing still.
The first thing I though of was the transmission (perhaps it slipped momentarily and grabbed suddenly). I took it to dealer service and talked through it. There are no check lights on and diagnostics all looked good. Transmission fluid is full and very clean.
I took the car home a few days ago, swapping it for a different car, so I could observe it for awhile. So far, after a few days driving it on and off, I have not experienced the same issue. I'm tempted to try some preventative measure, like fuel injector cleaner or something, in case it was a "burp" in the fuel system or something.
Any other thoughts on what this could have been? My worry is that she'll need the car for a lengthy commute (30 miles one way) a few times per week for her internship, and I didn't want it breaking down on the expressway, 150 miles away from home.
Thanks.

Re: Weird mechanical event, 2000 Civic
Still seems like it would be Transmission related . Might have just been a rare thing.. but I can't really think of anything else that would make that kinda feeling ..
Did the Dealer Happen to Drain and Notices any Metal Shavings ?
This feeling as happens to be before in the past with automatics when i hit the breaks the trans would slip and Jolt the whole cars but would be fine for take offs and shifts .. Not sure .. but I would get a Second Opinion about the transmission. Hope this helps .
