Cleaning engine bay?

What's the best way to do this? OCD me wants to just take my pressure washer and hose it down to begin, but I know that's a stupid idea. Whats the best way to get my dirty *** engine bay clean? Should i put garbage bags over certain things before washing it? Stupid question, I'm aware, but I'll appreciate some help!

Re: Cleaning engine bay?

So long as you have a stock intake, pressure washer will be fine.

I don't but its a real CAI with the filter behind the bumper on the passenger side. Do i need to worry about the battery or any other electronics? Intake is the only issue?

The rest are fine, just make sure you don't directly spray water into the intake.

I wouldn't do it but that's just me and never personally done it. Just turned off with the reports of people doing it and regretting it after the alternator or sensors get wet and then have issues. But if you're OCD then you're destined to go for it.

Re: Cleaning engine bay?

I always had good luck with spraying simple green on everything and letting it soak for a a couple of minutes. Grab one of those sponge pads and wipe everything and then hose down. Better results at the car wash with pressure hose, but garden hose will do good too. No need to cover anything unless it's old and has a distributor cap. If so, wrap a WalMart bag around it and you're good.
