Dirty engine bay

I own a 2007 civic si, my engine bay is a little dirty, is it safe to pressure wash it? Or what would be the best way to clean it up, thanks in advance.

Re: Dirty engine bay

I had a friend who was a detailer at the Honda dealership and he used to pressure wash the engine bay.

Re: Dirty engine bay

if you did not splice wires and connectors are firmly plugged in, they should have some water resistance (no dizzies in these gen)

Re: Dirty engine bay

Never done it myself, but common sense applies: cover the alternator and the battery. Simple green is a good choice for degreaser

No lie, the only time I cleaned my engine bay in my 2002 is when I had the engine and tranny out. You best bet I got that thing sparking though. I've always been too much of a wuss to do it otherwise. lol

Re: Dirty engine bay

I've used the aerosol canned stuff and a hose. Just follow the directions on the can

Re: Dirty engine bay

Hi all quite new here. Just did my engine bay and from experience of other cars have never had an issue. You have to remember that modern cars use IP rated connections, you may see the wires however the plugs should be sealed fine.
My method is quick and easy, get some degreaser and a little soft paint brush and go liberally all over working the brush into all the places you possible can.
Leave for a few minutes and then blast with the jet wash.
Then start the car and let it warm slightly.
Now importantly, use AutoGlym 'Vinyl trim spray' or 'tyre spray' leave for 10 mins and have a look at your engine it will gleam !!

good luck
