Help...cruise control module?

Hey All, I have a 2003 Coupe Ex 5spd, with cruise control issues. It's not the usual pedal switch bumpers this time. It won't engage at all, I have power coming in and out of the main switch, have continuity on both clutch and brake switches, so I'm thinking it's the cruise control module (auto cruise module), the problem is that I can't find it! The manual I was looking at said it was under the dash pretty close to the main switch, but I don't see it anywhere up there. Plus I think the manual was for another country, possibly Canadian, I don't know, just noticed that the shifter was different. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Pete

Re: Help...cruise control module?

I don't think there is a cruise control module under the dash, just the actuator/module under the hood.

Looking at all the wiring diagrams and service manual it shows one, they refer to it as a Cruise Module " on the part it says "Auto Cruise" Honda part number 36700-S5A-A31. Like I said tho, I think the service manual that I found is for a vehicle manufactured to a different country's specs. I appreciate your help!

Re: Help...cruise control module?

Coupe and Sedan have different cruise systems.
Coupe has the cruise control unit in the actuator.

Thank you, I appreciate the help, I guess I'll have to research the coupe more specifically!

Check that the cables have not come unattached. https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...nsmission.html

Re: Help...cruise control module?

Figured it out Y'all! Thanks for all the help! So, I finally found an applicable manual that I could download, and started running through the wiring checks at the actuator connector under the hood and found out the problem was with the brake switch not depressing fully. It was going in enough to shut off the brake lights, but not enough to supply the 12V to the cruise system. I guess the last time I replaced the little bumper, I didn't use the exact correct one, it was a little softer rubber and the switch actually made a little indention in it over time. And btw, y'all are right the cruise system in the coupe and sedan is different...(which makes no sense to me, but whatever!).

Thanks Again!

Re: Help...cruise control module?

I laid in the floorboard for half a day searching for the module. THANK YOU for letting me know it is in the actuator.
Pete - would you post a link to the manual with the actuator checks ?

It is available in the service manual. Check the last few posts in the thread below for a download link.
