no pressure when open the gas cap

Hi All There is no pressure when I open the gas cap. No matter how hot is outside. Changed the gas cap. still the same. No CEL.
Is the EVAP system not hermetic anymore?
Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: no pressure when open the gas cap

Why are you worried about this? As long as the car runs fine and you don't have a check engine light then there's no problem. On my car sometimes there's pressure and sometimes there's not.

The CEL will pop up if there is an issue. Or you will smell fuel like I did when my EVAP had issues.

Re: no pressure when open the gas cap

I think I narrowed it down to the charcoal canister but I never got it fixed before I sold it. I dont remember how I came to that conclusion but I have a service manual so I probably used that.

The charcoal canister leaked? I never heard of that.

Re: no pressure when open the gas cap

It can let fuel vapor escape. I didn't have a liquid leak just a vapor one.

Charcoal Canister - Part of the car's emissions controls, this charcoal-filled canister's job is to absorb fuel vapor that would otherwise vent out to the atmosphere, causing pollution. Vapors trapped by the charcoal are released back into the engine through the purge valve and then burned.

Edit: I think there is a valve that could have been the issue also. A sort of check valve.

Re: no pressure when open the gas cap

Found it and patch it with crazy glue + baking soda mix I checked 7 Civic 2001 - 2005 in the junk yard. All had cracks.

Stupid cracks

crazy glue + baking soda = solid rock
