Fuel tank not venting?
Fuel tank not venting?
Everytime i opened my gas tank it would release a ton of pressure...thought it was a bad cap so got a new one...same problem.
I will also smell fumes after driving it sometimes and when i take the cap off it releves a ton of pressure.
Is there another vent for the tank someplace?

Re: Fuel tank not venting?
My honda had the same issue, don't know if there is another vent for the tank, kinda doubt it, but I wouldn't worry too much about the issue, my car ran fine and it had the same kind of pressure release whenever I took the gas cap off. From what I know, this is a somewhat common problem on older hondas.

Re: Fuel tank not venting?
usually if there is a problem with the EVAP emissions system, the engine light will come on. pressure release from the gas cap is normal. many caps actually say 'open slowly, fuel pressure danger' or something. during the time you drive, some of the trapped vapors are burnt in the engine, but there are always some vapors stored that may get burned next time you drive. it is not a constant process. if you have pressure being released, it means your gas cap is good. a leaking cap will not hold pressure.
