I was just wondering how many people here have failed inspection cause of their gas cap? Everything on my inspection passed yesterday, except the pressure test of my gas cap. So I had to get another one. Well some people say it has to do with having your gas tank full when you take it in for inspection, and if that is the case, since it has been off the car now for 24 hours, I was thinking of taking it to honda tomorrow to see if it will pass. I am going to ask them to check it, and if it does, I will get my money back for the other cap.

Yes you have to pay whether you pass or fail, and if you fail you usually have 15 days to get the problem fixed and bring it back in to get it re-tested free of charge. After the 15 days, you have to pay again.

my cap failed.
It doesn't mean the car fails, just the cap. The cap test is totally seperate but is required as a whole for the certification.
I bought one on the spot at the testing facility and cleared.

It isnt a big deal, but as seeing that this is one of the reason why most people fail there inspections. The guy at the shop said out of 100 cars that come in for inspection, about 60 or so fail cause of the gas cap. It is what the computer reads. He even tested mine like 10x and each time it failed.
