Weird sound when revving or under load.

So I bought a 2002 Honda civic ex, it has a 1.7L d17a2 vtec engine. The transmission was slipping the previous owner said, so i took it to a shop to rebuild the transmission. Got it back and been driving it to work and back. So ive been doing repairs such as brakes, front wheel bearings, sway arm bushings, struts, tie rod ends, control arms, ball joins on the front. But ive noticed. Before i did anything to the front end, ive been noticing this strange bearing sound when under load or reving hard. But if it gets into 4th gear (automatic transmission) and say im going 40mph, if i lightly accelerate itll get louder, sometimes make a popping sound. These sounds are hard for a camera to pick up. I have to mention the sound is comeing from in front one the driver seat and sounds like it comes from the middle sometimes.

So ive basically replaced the everything on the front of the car thats mechanical. I went and got a loan to build my nom existing credit. And since a jdm engine was $400 i said the heck with it and swapped to a d17a, virtually the same motor.
To my suprise the sound still exists. The only thing i haven't changed was the power steering pump, which i have checked it as well with a stethoscope. Im thinking its the transmission. Ya i understand the car is almost 20 year old. But the sounds worry me.

I can post a vid of me revving it.

Please try re-posting the video link as it's not working. Have you put a stethoscope on the a/c belt pulley/tensioner?

Yes and its currently eliminated with a dx non compressor belt. Alternator is the tensioner, i have had 3 different alternators on the car with no luck at all.
Ill make the video public.

Re: Weird sound when revving or under load.

Update. Since nobody here seems to be active, i got a new (used jdm) engine, compressor and timing related things. New motor mounts, struts, wheel bearings, and cv axles. The only thing that stayed the same was the vtec solenoid and transmission (which was currently rebuilt). Sometimes ill get the sound. Its more noticeable when lightly excelerating when puting it under a load. Cruising speeds you cannot hear. Remember, the sound is like a clattering tapp sound. Yes i did a valve adjustment, yes its in time. Yes the rod bearings are good (cause i checked the new and old ones when i had to swap engine pans). The only thing im thinking about is the vtec solenoid. Maybe it can be stuck open barley or leaking on the inside to make the vtec engage slightly? But there is no check engine light or codes what so ever.

Re: Weird sound when revving or under load.

Maybe the noise is coming from the trans.

I'd suggest you return to trans shop and make sure you demonstrate the noise so they understand your complaint.

If it's coming from their freshly rebuilt trans work they will probably take care of it under the shops warranty (unless you waited too long)

If they determine the noise is not coming from the trans, I;m sure they will let you know. They may not go any further than determining if it's coming from the trans though.

I have taken it back and no luck whatsoever. But the sound is coming from in front of me being in the drivers seat. I might engage the vtec manually, yes itll run rough. But it'll narrow my results.
