yeah its weird, whenever i accelerate i hear it, between 2 and 3 rpm its the loudest, its sorta like this high pitched hissing sound, but when my car warms up, the temperature reaching the middle, the sound goes away....

Its normal....you can hear it with a stock intake too....... but with a CAI you can really hear it.

I have an lx and my car always makes this high pitch sound wether its cold or hot. It also does it around 2,000 - 3,000 rpm, but when I floor it, my engine sounds like a beast for a lil 4 banger and I'm still running stock. Its wierd though, because when I meet up with other 2k1s', there cars don't make that noise, maybe my car is a outcast or something.

My car makes the same noise when I start it and drive it for the first minute or so at low RPM's. It is definately because of my SRI. Nothing to worry about, just a little more air flowing through.

Yeh, that's just the sound of your engine breathing in, nice and deep

If when you turn your car off, you hear a hiss as it shuts down, the intake is on the way it needs to be and is
working fine !!

Just so ya'll know, VTEC doesn't engage until the engine is properly warmed up.

My 02 EX make the same whine. It's definitely not VTEC gents. PerfectD3 is right, plus VTEC doesn't engage until higher in the powerband. I believe the sound comes from the Throttle Body on the intake manifold (see image).
