2015 Honda Civic Front License Base

Hi, Everyone:

I'm new here and have a 2015 Honda Civic Sedan. The front license plate base was stolen and I had to order one online from Amazon - Base, Front License Plate - Honda (71145-TR3-A50). Problem is just the base comes, no screws or whatever else might be needed and that's the problem.

I have no clue how to put it on. The front bumper has one hole right in the middle. I notice in the picture of the Plate base that there is one hole right in the middle. So I assume there is at least one screw that holds it onto the bumper.

https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Honda-71145-TR3-A50-License-Plate/dp/B00LISZJTK/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Base%2C+Front+License+Plate+-+Honda+(71145-TR3-A50)&qid=1567702108&s=automotive&sr=1-1 https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Honda-71145-TR3-A50-License-Plate/dp/B00LISZJTK/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Base%2C+Front+License+Plate+-+Honda+(71145-TR3-A50)&qid=1567702108&s=automotive&sr=1-1

Other than that I don't know if I need more screws, what size screws, any other hardware and how do you install it? I've searched online for hours, and found youtube how-to's on installing various Honda front license bases but not this particular one.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

Generally they are held on with self tapping sheet metal screws. Is the hole in the bumber a straight through hole or does it have edges inside from where a screw was?

I would get a general size from measuring it and go to a hardware store and look for something that matches.

Hi,

Thanks...so all I need is 1 screw? That's my question should I just use, line up the middle bracket hole with the bumper hole and screw it in? Are there any other clips or screws that need to be used to hold it on. Maybe that's why it was so easily stolen? I'm thinking I should drill additional screw in through the bracket into the bumper...that's why I was hoping for some detailing perhaps video or illustrated instructions.

Thanks

Most are held on with 2 screws but one is all you need since a plate is not that heavy. Yep, just line it up and screw it in.

Nothing else is needed but yes that makes it easier.I would use a security head screw as most people do not have that handy. This will stop a theif who is just doing it in the moment but not deter someone from coming back at another time with the correct bit/tool.

You could drill a hole all the way through and put a bolt with lock nut on the back. Again not going to stop an ambitious and prepared theif. You can add 10 more screws it will only slow them down if they are phillips heads and they want it.

Before going to crazy I would try a single security screw and see how that goes with the theives.

Some security/tamper screw options:

Thanks for this my friend!

I think Security Screw is the way to go! You're right that's not
a common screw and unlikely someone might have that
tool.

However I'm wonder how much easier it might be to just
tear it from the bumper with just one screw...seems like a couple
more might make it even more secure...but like you said
if they're determined enough nothings going to stop them.

Thanks again!

That is a good point, it is easier to tear off with one screw as opposed to 2 or 3.

The first screw is one that can only be tightened but can not be loosened easily. The other 2 have bit's that people can buy which would make removal easier.
