Rear lights turning off problem

Hi everyone!

I have an odd problem with Honda Civic 2006 Hatchback. When lights are on normal "Off" position, all lights works as intended (start and shut automatically with engine).
Now, when I switch to even parking light or long light mode, all rear lights goes off. Same with speed meter etc lights. Head lights works normally. Turning back to default "Off" position, all lights works normally.
Anyone have a clue what could cause this? If a fuse problem, where can I find the correct one?

The taillight is different than the brake light, the bulbs have 2 filaments. Have you checked the bulbs? Dimmer on the gauge lights might be low.

Bulbs are fine, and yes I ment taillights goes off. Braking lights still work with other options aswell.

So the taillights are on with the switch off?
Is there an aftermarket alarm/remote start?

Yes, taillights works correctly only when the switch is off. Light alarm works normally too when shutting down the engine and the switch is half or on.
HUD Meter (speedometer etc) lights goes off too when switching half or on, but goes on when the switch is off.

Oh boy do you have some issues. Obviously, nothing should be on with the switch in the off position. Maybe it's a faulty headlight switch.

Most newer cars switch lights on automatically when the car is started. Been since 1990-century.

Re: Rear lights turning off problem

not really. Civics in US usually did not have DRL's until the 2006 models

Not the taillights. DRL turns on usually the high beam at half power.

Anyone have a clue where the automatic light fuse is in Civic 2006?

Only if you have it in auto mode......there is still a headlight switch to turn them on/off.

Re: Rear lights turning off problem

Yeah, in parking mode between "on" and "off" Euro cars shuts the headlights, but the parking lights stay put. There is absolutely no way to shut down all the lights when engine running at all.
This issue aint with headlights but rear ones.

Off topic: If you don't have the Civic Hatchback version in U.S, it is really odd, 'cause IMO hatchback is the most beautiful version of Civic ever

Re: Rear lights turning off problem

I would take to a dealer, might be an issue with the DRL module

Re: Rear lights turning off problem

They told me in the service that it could be automatic light fuse. I can't find the fuse from the manual. Anyone can hint me which one could it be?
