2013 Honda civic...check air bag system
Hi...so I hit something in the road that went under my car..ripping off the oil protective thing..drove four hours without noticing a problem..but then started hearing weird rubbing noise...I think I figured out that part...but then my check air bag light came on..earlier in the day my check emissions systems light came on and I ended up needing a thermostat...but now all sorts of lights are coming on...I drove all day today without that light coming on but it came on tonight..so drove back to AutoZone to have it checked again with the light showing ...but nothing came up.....I made an appt for a week from now but am kind of worried..has anyone had their airbag light come on...I checked the engine for rodent poop ...saw none..looked at a bunch of wires and don't see any wires chewed.....could that hit of a plastic thing somehow have messed up the air bag system?
Thanks so much!

You will have to get underneath to look for damage.
Autozone reads codes for free but only powertrain faults (engine/transmission). You have to find someone with a better scanner to read SRS codes.

So it is possible that from something going under the car even if it was just a small plastic thing that it could mess up something on the air bag thing? Like maybe a sensor or something?
Thank you for responding...we aren't seeing anything underneath but we have been looking only at the wheel area and the noise

there are several sensors around the front of the car, some wires could have been pulled, or the sensors knocked out of place

GEN 9 CIVIC likely other models. Replace the Clock Spring on the steering column if one or more seatbelts locked (needs reset) and NO airbag deployment. The clock spring has a resistive fuse that blows if no crash sensor activated to disable driver airbag from deploying. Typical incident such as hitting a curb or pothole and breaking the wheel.
