Navigation error

I recently purchased a 09 civic with TOUCHSCREEN navigation and it’s saying disc read error and the dvd looks clean no visible scratches. So I am trying to see if someone has a copy of a map dvd or can point me in the direction (no pun intended) to where I could get a cheap dvd or copy of a dvd so I can check to make sure it’s not the reader before spending the money to get a dvd map and that’s not the issue. It seems that I can’t even set my clock until I get this issue resolved?. and the used ones I have seen for sale are about the price of the new updated one.

—>And if you know a way for me to set the clock even with this problem I would be so grateful if you could tell me how to.

Thanks in advance,
-William K.

re: Navigation error

I’m 99% sure that no 8th generation civics came with factory touch screens.

Re: Navigation error

quick google-fu indicates it is a common issue for Hondas...

never owned anything newer than a 7th gen.

some of the items found in the net:
not sure if this applies to 8th gen civics

most 8th gen owners are in this site (some stragglers come in here but most does not reply, like yourself - I will accept your complaint if you go around and try to help other members on their issues)

Press and hold the "Map," "Cancel" and "Menu" buttons until the diagnostic menu appears on the screen.
