2007 Civic Hybrid - Help to diagnose Electrical fault please
Hello All,
My Civic the Hybrid model is currently at the dealership for diagnosis but after 3 working days they haven't been able to locate the issue. I can tell you though that Fuse 1, The battery Fuse (100Amp) has blown and this I found as a problem at the roadside, after attempting to bridge this at the roadside as a temporary fix to be able to limp home it was still shorting. I told the dealership this and after ordering a new fuse (£16) they plugged it straight in and it blew... surprise surprise. They still haven't found the fault, despite me telling them these issues. I'm thinking along the lines of a cable that is touching ground or perhaps a component that has done so.
What happened?
On my way back from town, It is cold, wet and misting up as my partner and I were wet from the rain. Both heated seats on hi, blowers and temp on hi and de-mist. No issues at all, After about 2 miles of driving the following happens. Hybrid battery gauge is on 2 bars, which is normal for the start of a journey.
Driving down hill, lights ahead turn red on the roundabout. I start to brake to come to a stop, brakes start applying and after about half a second the ignition goes out, dash goes out everything. Brakes still working so I manage to stop, after trying to start the car or in an attempt to get to somewhere better I try my hazard lights, they work. Manage to coast get to a safer place on the roundabout, called for assistance, waited 2.5hours to be recovered.
What did I find?
On having everything go out, my first thoughts were that the Main Battery Fuse or the Ignition Fuse had blown. After checking these the Ignition fuse was intact but the Main Battery Fuse had blown, this is the 100amp fuse. When the breakdown vehicle arrived we bridged the fuse and it still shorted meaning there was a bigger problem.
After recovery?
After ringing around several garages they didn't have the time or the facility to do the diagnosis, so I opted for the dealership. I told them the above and that there is still a fault with the car causing the shorting and despite needing a new fuse they shouldn't put it in right away until they've found the problem... Called today to find out the progress and they did so and it blew. The technician looking at it
Possible faults I've considered?
Faulty/poor connection for earthing strap
Fault/damaged cable/loom/connection that is touching an earth.
Faulty/damaged component that is causing a short to earth.
Has anyone else ever heard of this problem? It is a 13 year old car, it's done 180k miles. While I should maybe call it a day, money is tight and if this can be fixed for a couple of hundred I'd like to get it back on the road rather than having to get a new car.
Thanks in advance

Re: 2007 Civic Hybrid - Help to diagnose Electrical fault please
So the garage just called, the dc-dc converter on the hybrid side has apparantly broken and I've been quoted £1200 for the part alone.
So RIP car.
So RIP car.
