Engine Shaking

Hey tech guys out there, I noticed that my car has been shaking pretty noticeably after the engine has been warmed up and I am sitting at a stop. I popped the hood to take a peek and notice that my engine is shaking pretty good. This has gotten me pretty worried. So any preliminary diagnosis? 36000 miles on car.

I think this is a known problem. Take it to the dealer.
BTW, this should be in Problems, not tech stuff.

Bad rubber bushings in the engine mounts? That's my guess.

Same here. Ever since I bought it. I now have 8000 miles. They said they will look at it after the struts are replaced.

I think you have the same problem as the other 2k1 guys who have idling problems. Definitely not related to the bushing etc.

Same shaking... i'm guessing that it is because the engine is getting older?

Perhaps needs tuning?

I would think if it were the motor mount it would be more noticeable and more of a constant shake... this isn't though. It has no rhythm at all, and it only happens at idle.

oh my bad, its the ecm that is allowing the revs to fall too far during idle.

And you figured this out how? It could be many things, clogged injectors, bad plugs, crappy gas, airflow sensor, coil voltage, fuel filter, etc. etc. Its impossible to properly diagnois his problem without looking at it first hand and doing a code scan.

Its possible its a ECU, but if it is its just a good guess. He needs to take into a shop to have it properly diagnoised.

i'm not sure but it could be the timing belts being too tight? does it rattle and have a kind of loud sound to it.

there is no sound at all. It's not something you see either. You just feel it. I can feel it in my seat sometimes at idle. I opened the hood at idle and put some weight on the engine and you can definately feel it. I don't use crappy gas btw. I don't think my injectors would be clogged from the get go... or the fuel filter. It's possible, but I don't think it's likely. Honda is supposed to take a look at it after they replace my struts though. I'll post back here when I find out.

I have a slight vibration from my engine, but not enough to make me worry, but the last to Hondas I owned you couldn't even tell the car was running.

Mine did it since new, but I finally got it fixed.....So now I dont have the problem anymore.....I had to trade the car in to get rid of the problem....lol. Honda tried to fix it 3 times but it kept coming back amongst all the other first year problems. I finally got fed up and I wont have the problems anymore as of this saturday....I will have a new car to drive.
