Brake noise I guess?
Hey, I have about 27.5 thousand miles on my car now and as I was driving (around 85mph on a freeway) I hear a loud squealing sound coming from the front of my car. It sounds similar to when brakes squeal as some cars do when they brake to a stop but I wasn't braking at all. I explained it to a friend... and that person's friend... said to replace the brake shoes. Brake "shoes"? I know some of the parts to the brakes like the disc and the caliper but the "shoe" is new. Anyway do you think that person's right? And can someone explain what the brake shoe is? Thanks.

Not sure why he would say you need new shoes from your description, but you might. Usually when you cruising and dont touch the brakes it wont squeal. It should only squeal when the brakes are applied, unless theres something else wrong.
About shoes, your rear brakes are a drum/shoe setup. You have two shoes per side inside each drum. In the front, you have a rotor/caliper setup where the caliper holds two brake pads on each side of the rotor.
If you got 27K out of your brakes already, it wouldnt hurt to inspect each wheel.

It's really strange. I've been driving my car lately and I haven't heard the sound since. But I am gonna inspect to brakes myself and check my pads on the front. It definitely wasn't coming from the rear, so the "shoes" are fine.
it might be the break limiter,it tends to sound off when your brake pads need replacing
or ypu could check your pads sometimes dirt could also cause the sound
