hole in ac coil

yeah call me dumb. I was drilling a hole in the front where the H is and I struck the ac coil. It sprayed sh*t everywhere. Does anyone know where I can get a new one for cheap? Other than a junk yard.

The coil you're talking about is called the condenser. Don't ever use used A/C parts because you're just asking for trouble, the best way to find a cheaper new one, other than going to the dealer, is find a shop or parts store that deals in A/C parts and ask for a quote. Unless you know how to repair a A/C system you should take it to a shop. The reason is the following, you're going to need to evacuate (vacuum) the system, might have to replace the dryer (accumulator) and the correct amount of R-134a is very important. There is a small sticker right by your compressor and headlight that says how must r-134a is needed, I think its around 1.2lbs.

The reason why you don't want to use used A/C parts is because of contamination, if there is just a small speck of dirt or water in the part "it could" ruin the whole system. You might be able to save some money by installing the condenser yourself then take to a shop to check for leaks, evacauate and recharge the system. The reason why you might need a new Dryer is that its designed to remove moisture from the system, if more than a couple of drops of water enter the dryer its bad. What will happen is the desicant will become saturated and might break up and spread through out the system. Though this is possible I dought it will happen with your system. Let me know how you make out on fixing it.

LOL, well that might work I guess, the thing you need to make sure you do is buy a OEM Honda condenser. When you re-install the new condenser make sure the line fittings don't get all marked up. The dealer might smell a rat, also if they notice there is no R-134a at all in the system that might cause a red flag, normally a slight amount remains, unless there is a hugh leak which you won't have. I guess if you left one of the fitting loose on the condenser they would find that and think thats your leak. I think the Dealer might see through your little game there, but you never know.

I myself wouldn't do it, but I wasn't a Saint 13 years ago in college either.

It might work for a month but I really dought it, the system is under some very high pressures. Besides if the stuff gets into the system he could foul up other parts of the system. I repaired a system back in 1985 on a old beater car I had in College with JB Weld, it worked for about a week.

I think that is a good idea about leaving the fitting loose. The main reason I think it will work is b/c it already went in for an a/c problem befor. They said there was a loose hose.
