throttle cable snaped

i was on the NJ turnpike trying to cut someone off and i push the gas petal and it hit the floor. meanwhile i'm slowing down and halfway cutting this a$$ off. pulled over to the side and waited like 2 hours before a state trooper came and called a tow truck. tow truck then took 2 hours to get there. the shop he towed me too called every honda dealer in Jersey and other import parts stores and know one had it in stock. everyone sayed that they never had anyone buy a throttle cable for a 7th gen civic cause "they just don't break". i have 39,000 miles on my car but it still shouldn't have broke. i had to overnight it from ohio i think. then pick it up from a dealership and took a train for 2 hours to get to where my car was. it was the worst problem i had with my car so far

Since you were at 39,000 miles, does that mean that you had to pay for it and wasnt under warranty? How mcuh did it run you?

Has anyone else with the DIY throttle cable adjust had a similar problem, because I just did the DIY 2 days ago on Friday (I like it a lot) but now I'm a bit scared.

nothing is warrantied on my car cause of the NOS and all. it cost me 80 for the tow, like 18 for the cable, 16 for the over night shipping charges, and they raped me for like 100 for labor and to keep the car there over night.

Yeah I would have to say this is probably the reason why it snapped. Either the throttle cable was too tight or you accidentally altered the alignment so that it was rubbing against something (i.e. a metal bracket). Your dealership is right that "throttle cables just don't break". Those things are made of braided steel and are designed to last the life of the car.
