THROTTLE RESPONSE GONE TO SHI7
DUNNO IF THIS HAS BEEN POSTED. BUT IT JUS HAPPENED TO ME SO I THOUGHT I'D LET YA'LL KNOW.
THIS MORNING MY GAS PEDDLE FELT SOFTER THAN NORMAL IT HAD MORE PLAY IN IT THAN I LIKED. SO I LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AND MY THROTTLE CABLE WAS SAGGING DOWN ABOUT AN INCH. IT WASN'T TIGHT AT ALL. EVEN WITH THE THROTTLED ADJUST TO FULL IT STILL WAS LOOSE...SO I LOOK AT MY GAS PEDDLE
( AT THE VERY TOP WHERE CABLE CONNECTS) AND I FIND THIS 1 INCH RUBBER BOOT DANGLING. THIS BOOT GOES IN BETWEEN THE THROTTLE CABLE AND THE PEDDLE. I THINK IT'S THERE TO TAKE SOME STRESS OFF OF THE CABLE. ONE SIDE THE BOOT SPLIT IN HALF, SO BASICALLY IT ADDED ANOTHER INCH TO THE THROTTLE CABLE.
I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT BACK ON AND ZIP TIE IT SHUT, TO KEEP IT FROM COMING OFF.
IT LOOKS LIKE IT CAME WITH THE WHOLE THROTTLE CABLE ASSEMBLY SO IMMA GET ONE FROM THE DEALER FOR FREE AND INSTALL IT.

I love my CIVIC.
By the way, I have nothing to say about the throttle hang. I say take it to the dealer and gripe.

tummyboy These problems occur with every car, just in this particual fourm thats all you'll see, if you read thru them you'll start freaking out thinking every squeek, unidentified noise, etc is a piston head about to blow thru the hood... I had a 325IC before this and the car was bullet proof but I read thru a Issue/Problem form on a 325I site and freaked out trying to fix things that wernt broke etc... Just enjoy the car, it's new(er), its under warrenty.
Also watch out for the few people on this site that are just trying to discourage honda owners, they seem to get there rocks off by blasting civic,s .You have one of the best small cars out there just enjoy it. and do like us old timers and laugh at the blasters, (they are sort of funny)

The cable must have come loose somehow. Sounds like it simply needs to be adjusted. I know when I tightened mine, so I thought, I went out to leave the next morning and my pedal went straight to the floor. I had not repositioned the cable properly on the tb. It is probably just loose. Take it in.
Also, about this vi/p forum. If you read all these problems you'll become a paranoid shcizo! Go to any site like this one for other manufacturers and you will read the same horror stories and all about the little problems. Trust me. I looked at many cars before buying the vic. I checked CR, word of mouth, people at dealers, and forums just like this one for each manufacturer. Let's just say that after visiting those other forums, I stuck with honda. There are a ton of hondas on the road out there and some have issues. Honda isn't run by the good Lord himself, and they don't produce perfect products. They produce great ones but they are human.
I try to avoid this forum as much as possible. It has made me worry about my vic. It's like I am waiting for something to go wrong. I do have a ton of rattles and a fuel gauge that seems to go crazy from time to time. Not a good sign. I'm not worried about those small issues however. I worry about major repairs and things that will REQUIRE me to visit the dealer.
