Injen intake sucked up water Engine is dead

i live in Orlando FL. it's hurrican season right now. mad floods.
last weekend we were driving and there was so much rain we could not see.
Rain in FL. just comes all of a sudden and leaves again...over and over...till you are pissed off.
i have an INJEN CAI. it was a gloomy day. all of a sudden the freaking sky was pouring mad rain.
we drove for about 10 minutes. came to a stop light. first car at the light (lucky me).
it turned green and "SPLASH!!!" into a foot of water.
i shifted into neutral right away and my car started to slow down...
turned my right turn signal on....cars kept zooomin by...couldn't get out of the freakin lane.
cars on my A$$$ honking at me for moving so slow...so i put myself in 3rd gear to slowly rev forward.
Finally, an opening to cut over......freakin car behind me cuts over....and....you guessed it.
engine stalled. I had the car towed back to my house...my insurance will cover the engine...
but in the mean time i am waiting to see if the engine will still work if i let the water evaporate.
it's been a lil over a week and it's still dead......

anyone know how to fix this problem????...hahaha...I NEED HELP!!!!!

does anyone know if a B18 could be swapped into a 7th gen coupe????

You can do anything you want to your car, it just won't be able to pass the inspection for your car's year model.

by the way, I have no earthly idea about the b18 fitting...

Your engine is hydro'd (water in the combustion chambers). This happened to my friend's Z28 and it kinda happened to by Sunbird when I had a blown head gasket. On the Z28, my friend and his cousins took out the plugs and used something (syringe thing with a tube?) to suck the water out of the chambers. You might want to try this out before taking it to a shop.

Another thing to remember, don't try starting it with water in the engine! The water will make the engine extremly hard to crank. They fried the Z28 starter trying to "pump" the water out of the engine by cranking it over. It probably depends on how much water there is in it, but I'm not sure.

Also, the water will probably NOT evaporate. The combustion chambers are pretty much closed off containers with no air circulation (heh, unless the engine is running ).

That's my $0.03 (info is more valuable than $0.02). I'm sure someone else would probably be more knowledgeable with hydro'd engines, the stuff I posted is just what I remember from my friend's experience.

The b series engine will not fit easily. Anything can be done it is a matter of how much money you are willing to spend. Next time do a search bro this has been covered many times. First if you know it floods a lot where you live why the hell did you get a cold air? And second why did you put your car in neutral? As far as the water it will not be covered under warrenty. The mod is what caused the problem so your warrenty is void. I don't know about the insurace covering it but good luck.

AEM sells a CAI bypass filter for under 60 bucks.....

that small investment would have saved you some pain.

I'm still trying to figure out why you bought a cold air if you know you live in an area that is prone to flooding.

Buying a CAI is not a big deal in an area that floods i have one here in Tx... its the 40.00 bypass almost everyone seems to laugh at until its thier engine that gets hydro lock...invest in a AEM bypass valve and i believe they will fit the injen CAI ...you will have to cut it though

Thanks for all the help guys..
i tried the removing spark plugs technique but it still wouldn't work.
my insurance is covering it.
if the engine is dead...they will get me a brand new one. and all i need to do is pay the deductible.
i'm converting my CAI into a warm air...=)
thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Why would you get a Cold Air Intake if thier are flash rain storms where you live? It would make MUCH more sense to get a Short Ram, or the AEM Cold Air Intake with the By-Pass valve (that thing works wonders).
How much will the new engine be? And how much will your insurance go up by???
