I have an 03 civic ex myself with a blown head gasket. I am new to this forum and I was surprised to find thread after thread with the same "head gasket" in their titles. Apparently this is a super common thing for these 7th gens. My car has been overheating and I've thinking of doing the job myself. But I am wondering what caused such a defect in the first place? Why do the 7th gens have this problem as opposed to other gens? Bad engineering? bad materials?

Thanks!

There is a thread somewhere that goes into more details about the possible problems with the head gasket and why it is prove to failure.

Ill see if I can find it.

That second one could be it but I thought there was another one that wasn't a sticky. Maybe it wasn't and now it is...I don't know, I can't keep them all straight.

Hondas head gaskets are fine.

Shall we discuss some ...prolific... head gasket problems that OTHER manufacturers have had? Let's start with Dodge/Plymouth Neon.....

7th Gen Civics have blown more heads than a 65 year old French prostitute that started at age 18.
