power steering pump too high...
power steering pump too high...
Just installed new drive belts for alternator and power steering pump.
I have adjusted the wingnut for the power steering pump so as to get a decent amount of tension on the PS belt. To do so, I had to use every bit of the wingnut and bracket. The belt is not super tight, still gives a bit to medium pressure. The place where the mounting bolt sits on the mounting bracket is much higher than before, half inch to an inch, and is all the way at the top of the mounting bracket.
I purchased a MasterPro Serpentine belt K040398 from O'Reilly auto, also found here at . Supposed to fit 2002 honda civic ex 1.7L.
Wondering if others have their PS pump this high.
Here are a couple pics for reference:

If you ran out of adjustment travel, then your belt is too long.
The good thing is the PS belt does not have to be super tight like the alt/AC belt, it's only gotta be tight enough to not squall when you steer all the way to one side.

Figure it out. Been so long since I took things apart, I had a separate baggie with the second bolt that connects to the bottom portion of the power steering pump, the swing arc part. Once that was installed, things snugged up right where they used to be. Didn't have the wrong belt, just hadn't found a place for every part yet.

How many different threads were started for this one job? I need to consolidate all of them into one.
