IAC/Idle Issues

My car started to surge while idling, then when I would put the clutch in while driving the car would rev up to 2000 RPM the die down and surge every now and then. I got the codes checked and it read the IAC Valve was bad, I replaced it with a new one and now the car will start fine but after a few second the car revs up to 2000 RPM and then holds. Does anyone have any suggestions that would help me out?

Re: IAC/Idle Issues

I don't know of any code that is defined as "IAC valve is bad". What was the code?

Year of car?
Coupe? Sedan?
EX? LX?
Automatic? Manual?
Be specific, there's a bunch of different versions..

Re: IAC/Idle Issues

I took my car to autozone and they had a code reader that read back codes that wouldnt necessarily make the engine light come on. The code that was read was P1519. Sorry about no details on my car in my first post :/ My car is a 2003 Honda Civic Ex Manual 2-Door coupe.

Re: IAC/Idle Issues

P1519 is defined as "IAC valve circuit malfunction".

The connector should have 3 wires. One power (center pin, yellow/black wire?), one ground (black wire), and the last one goes to the PCM for control. If any of those are open, it can't work.
Service manual and volt/ohm meter should be your next steps.

Um, and get your old IAC valve, it's might not really be bad.
