Ok Im the type of person that if you are going to do something you do it all the right way. I done a complete brake job on my 04 civic. All new wheel cyl., drums, shoes, and spring kit. About a week later I started getting a clicking sound when im easing on the brake lower than 10mph. I know its the rear because you can slightly pull up on the e-brake and get the same effect. So i take it all apart cant find anything wrong so I put it back together and try it again. Same issue. I give it another week to see if there is any wear signs anywhere but nothing. So I replace all the new stuff I just put on with new parts. And still that same noise. I played with the wheel bearing and it doesnt have any signs like a normal worn out wheel bearing would have. Car stops just like it should with no bump in the peddle or pull to one side. I was just wondering if anyone has had this issue before. I plan on taking it all apart again this weekend and if still no signs I will throw 2 new wheel bearing in it.

It shouldn't be the wheel bearings.

Can you narrow it down to one side or the other?
Did you lube all the metal-to-metal contact points?



Put the original drums back on and see what happens.

I suspect you got aftermarket drums and they came in a white box, made in China.
Not machined true or just a poor fit, pushing the shoes around slightly as it turns.

Aftermarket drums sounds like. I just put some drums on mine and had to take one back. It was warped bad enough that you could hear the shoes shifting back and forth on the backing plate. I had my son to ride in the back in the middle with the windows down to make sure which side it was.
Here's the crap of it all, parts were from NAPA. I am starting to loose faith in even the local parts houses... QC is non existent in China, most stuff is Chinese too nowadays

I would also have to ask, did you clean and lube all the contact points?

Thanks for the input. But yeah I cleaned everything as I went and lubed it up. The drums are after market from advance auto. Might throw the old drums back on just to see. Thanks again..

I've got my own brake issues I'm about to post but I'm wondering if - since it happens at such a low mph - you could put the tire on loosely with the lugs hand tight (up in the air), spin it, and have someone slowly put the brake on. You may be able to isolate where it is coming from inside the drum. Just a thought.

Hmmm perhaps air in the system? Have you flushed or bleed the system recently?

Sorry it took me a while to get back but it was the drums. I turned them and cleared the noise right up. As soon as I started turning them I could see they werent as even as they should have been.
