Rep Power: 0 Gear Shifter locked
Hey guys, been a while since I have posted anything because my civic has been good, but now there is an issue. In the last few days my gear shifter on my a/t 01 civic has been locking in park and not letting me go into gear. It doesn't happen when I first start the car, but does it when I go into park and then try to shift out again. Then I have to shut the car off and start it up again and it works. I am kinda lost any ideas?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Gear Shifter locked
#1 Are you stepping on the brake before you push the shifter button every time?
#2 Do the brake lights come on EVERY time the pedal is pushed?
I see a lot of brake light switches that randomly don't work.
I bet when your shifter doesn't release, the brake lights aren't on.
Next most common thing would be someone has spilled a drink into the shifter, now it's all sugary and sticky.

Alright I will check to see if the brake lights come one when i get off work today, if that is the case and the switch is messed up, I hope it isn't much to replace it :/
