My trans threw up. But it's better now?
My trans threw up. But it's better now?
On my second rebuilt.
So my car starts to lose power, smoke billowing out the back. Open the hood, the entire engine compartment is slick with trans fluid, and the trans was bone dry. Towed it home, and for the life of me coulndn't find the leak. Filled it up, racked it, started it, no leak. Drove it around, racked it, no leak. When I drained the fluid, it was as burned as I've ever smelled. WTH? This rebuild has about 19k, two years old, and never a slip or a peep. Where could the leak have come from? Any ideas? If I have to rebuild again for another grand, I'm getting rid of it.

Are you using Honda trans fluid or after market?
What color was the fluid?
Was there any material on the magnetic screw when you drained it and filled it?
What color was the smoke billowing out the back?
So there was pink fluid all over the engine compartment?

Check the dipstick
They are notorious for getting smaller and popping out.
However they generally only throw a small amount of ATF out.
