01 Civic LX got hit would this damage be fixable?
Hello Guys,
I got hit by a vehicle that ran the red light
and while the impact was more towards the rear driver side door it sort of bent the frame around the tire does anyone know if this would be something that could be fixable pretty easy or would insurance company see it as a total since its a 01? I'm trying not to drive it at the moment because when i hit a bump tire rubs against the bent frame pieace.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Yea thats pretty fixable trust me I've seen worse just depends on how much your car is worth. I would say your looking about 2-3k in damages. But iam no expert.

Probably just buy new/used front and rear door and roll the fender out with a wooden baseball bat(PM me if you want explanation)... some bondo paint and primer on the rear quarter and should be good to go. if not take the chance with insurance and hope for the best...

It just looks like the damage goes further in that area than a baseball bat roll can manage, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Being an 01 LX they will probably total it. That is probably good for you though... Since you are dealing with his insurance, you can basically bicker back and forth with them to get top dollar from your car. Don't be a nice guy, be a jack@$$ if you have too. Make em pay you. They would rather pay you for your car than pay your hospital bills for the next 2 years. If they buy it, you can turn around and buy it back for next to nothing. You can probably fix it for far less than you will have in it. I am not a body man, hate body work honestly, I am a mechanic. Shop around for repairs. It doesn't look that bad honestly. Do both doors still open and close? If they do, take a pry bar or a bat to that area in the wheel well. It doesn't look like its into the tire that much honestly. That is a reinforced area though, it will probably be tough to move, even a bit. If it is, take the wheel off and use a hammer to knock it back so you can drive it. They will have to replace that area anyway it looks like.

I want to thank everyone for your great input/advice on the issue. I'm currently waiting for the insurance company to contact me with more info. The car was in pretty great shape prior to the accident so I'm hoping if they do total the car that I do get what its worth when it was in good condition. I actually got the car from a friend for $1200 which was a great price because the car was very well taken care of. I was checking the baseball bat method and see some great results on youtube I'm tempted to trying it out but want to wait for the appraiser to check the car first so he can get a proper estimate. Once again that you all for your ideas/inputs have been great

Generally if the damage exceeds 2/3 of the KBB or NADA price of the car (i.e. Blue book value), then they will total it. My thoughts are they will total it since it's 10 years old and not worth all that much, and there is a LOT of damage there.

the photo of the silver 4 dr.. i would say no to a toal loss.. take your rear tire off and smack that wheelwell with a hammer a few times so it does not rub.. they will fix it in the bodyshop anyways. but at least then you can get around.. FWIW.. in my opinion there would be no "frame damage" from the looks of the photo.. everything i see is cosmetic and fixable .. new door and a lil body filler prime and paint.. good as new.

The rear 1/4 would need replacing as well There is a LOT of damage there. You don't know if there's frame damage until it's on the frame machine and has been precisely measured to OEM specs.
