any advice?! help please
we recently just purchased a 2001 honda civic lx 2dr. we have noticed a oil leak coming from what looks to be gasket at valve cover and at plug. as well we just noticed a popping noise coming from what seems to be the front left side. any suggestions? as well I have read where many people have had the same problems with this year of civics. any word to the wise about this year? any advice as to how we can enhance the quality of performance from my vehicle? thanks for any information...

Buy a valve cover gasket set (it'll come with spark hole gaskets) and replace it. Oreiilys has 'em for about $30 or go here for OEM: http://www.hondapartscheap.com/southbay/jsp/home.jsp
Popping could be anything- strut mount, control arm bushings, ball joint, swaybar ends or bushings, subframe bushings, or motor mounts. Most of the time it's the control arm bushings or the strut mount.

What kind of problems are you tallking about in the report?? More specifics.
Buy the valve cover gasket kit and fix oil leak. If you don't know how to do this then take it to a mechanic and let him find the popping noise also. A car will last as long as you want it to if you keep up ALL maintenance. Not just changing the oil. All belts, tensioners, tune-ups everything.

The valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals are an easy fix. Ive done both myself. Search this site and use THIS DIY as a guide. Would take you an afternoon, the weekend at best.
And like boostedcivic said, you take care of your car, and it will take care of you, no matter what survey says what. Though I wouldnt buy a ford

off top of my head without going back and looking >> suspensions problems, oil leaks, trunks leaking, engine stalling after going through water puddles, a few minor recalls were mentioned. I really like my car and hope it last as long as my CRX did and as long as my nissian did. But I honestly have never owned a civic and we have had it this week and carfax report was clean but when i went to get info on this car and was reading all the defaults I does make one wonder. Although there were some negative reports over all civic seem fairly inexpensive to fix and I am sure that with some TLC and some minor work this car will not let me down. That is why I joined this forum figured this site would be more reliable than car survey.

Hell yeah! Surveys can give you a good idea of something, but to really know, civicforums.com is where to go! LOL man that was cheesy!!
