Clutch Growl? 03 LX
Clutch Growl? 03 LX
I have an 03 LX with approx 106k miles that the clutch has been growling for over 4k miles (didn't have money till now to fix) It only makes the noise when the petal is engaged (no foot on it) and it is UN-noticeable when coasting in neutral. It shifts a little rougher than when in the past but it is still very smooth. I have noticed no fluid leaks and the clutch never smells hot. Any help would be awesome!
Re: Clutch Growl? 03 LX
Do you mean the car is shaking when the clutch is being engaged? If that's the case, it could be clutch chatter. If it's doing this as you're driving, it could be loose flywheel bolts or worn mounts. That's assuming this growl is shaking. If not, I'm out of ideas.
Re: Clutch Growl? 03 LX
Sounds like an input shaft bearing problem...or something transmission related if it makes the sound only when the clutch is engaged. Does it sound funny when you first start it up and let off the clutch in neutral?
Re: Clutch Growl? 03 LX
Sorry bout the long over due reply. It is defiantly a growling noise not a shaking and it gets worse as the car warms up. I haven't noticed it making the noise in neutral or if it is its so quiet I don't notice. As weird as it may sound the noise almost sounds like a knocking lifter on a Ford! But I know it is not my engine
Re: Clutch Growl? 03 LX
Hmmmmm....
Im still trying to figure out if its the clutch, engine or some part of the drive train.
1. When parked, an its in neutral, and you push the clutch in and out...noise?
2. When parked, an its in neutral, and have the clutch out (engaged)...noise?
3. When parked, an its in neutral, and you have the clutch in (disengaged),....noise?
4. While coasting (be careful, and turn off the radio an any fans/noise makers), push the clutch in....noise goes away? comes back with drive train engagement?
