Water Pump + Timing Belt

I recently purchased a 2002 Honda Civic Sedan.
I bought it with 180km and now has approx. 220km
I would like to know how do i know if the water pump and timing belt has already been changed..and i would like to know how many times do i have to do it?

Also what can i do to this car to make it better..performance wise, luxury wise..or anything that just adds a better look i guess.

I currently have HID lights a regular cd deck and subs.

Any Suggestions?

Re: Water Pump + Timing Belt

General rule of thumb is timing belt and water pump every 100k miles. So, even if it has been done your due up. How many times you have to do it depends on how long the car lasts. If the car goes to 550k, you have to do it 5 times

Performance wise, stick to suspension. Do a bit of search and you will find a ton of mods you can do to your civic to improve it. Unfortunatly, unless you plan on spending a lot of money on it, it won't go any faster.

Re: Water Pump + Timing Belt

To be on the safe side, I would either replace the timing belt myself, or have it checked out at a shop, and replace all the fluids.
You never can be sure when the previous owner did maintenance unless he has scheduled maintenance done at a dealer, or certified shop, and has all the paperwork

because 1, you dont know the quality of the job done
2, you dont know what fluids/materials are in the car

there are minor mods to make your car slightly better fuel efficient, and some to add minor performance, but like tbohar said, dont expect it to be a M3 without dropping the value of the car itself on it.
There are also mods like bumper lip kits that will make your car look better

do you mean 180,000 and 220,000 KM?

BTW, tbohar, he said KM, so he is due once only. he is about 135k miles. If he means 220k KM, of course

Don't recall an easy way to spot if work has been done...
Did you have any vin checks, maintenance records, etc?
