Passenger Brake Light Malfunction

Having issues with my passenger side brake light during night time driving. When my headlights are turned on, the passenger side taillight only lights up when I press on the brake. Car is a 2004 Civic Ex Coupe

Any ideas?

Lol, I wish it were. Light operates properly when brake is applied.

For example, when driving at night. Your taillights have a dim and a bright light setting so drivers can see your car ahead of them even when your not pressing on the brake.

The bright light portion is functioning properly. It's the dim setting that is not working properly which should stay lit while brake is not applied.

Also I should probably note that the taillights are the aftermarket LED type.

Re: Passenger Brake Light Malfunction

Inspect & tighten the socket contacts, swap bulbs side to side and see if the problem follows bulb. Gently move bulb and wiring with tails on and look for change.

The factory set-up has voltage going to one filament of the bulb for tails, and another voltage fed for brakes and the 2 have a common ground.
