7th gen trunk pop solenoid mechanism

My wife has a 2003 Honda Civic with a Python 460HP alarm system installed, and it has a two button keyfob, including an aux feature. Is it possible to get a solenoid trunk popper mechanism installed in this car? Tried to talk with BB and they said I need a solenoid, so where can I get this solenoid?

Re: 7th gen trunk pop solenoid mechanism

just buy the whole latch assembly from the 2001 accord. its a direct bolt-on and then you hook the wire up to your alarm. theres even a diy for it somewhere here

Gearbox, you really do know your stuff. Thanks man. Now I just have to find one of those solenoid mechanisms!

Also, do you know if the aftermarket alarm system that I have is able to be hooked up to this solenoid trunk popper mechanism from Honda?

Gearbox, found this link to the wiring diagram for the relay. The second diagram I guess is the correct one, right? Could I find a relay like this at Radioshack?

http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page1.asp

What do the fused +12V wires (red wires in the diagram) hook up to?

Is #12 what I need (on diagram towards bottom left)? #11 looks similar, but it's not available on the website as being able to be purchased.

Re: 7th gen trunk pop solenoid mechanism

i dont know the specifics of the alarm wiring and what it hooks up to, i actually had circuit city install mine for $40 a while back. almost every alarm has extra channels to hook accessories to so you should be fine. and the install shop should know if the alarm uses a + or a - switched circuit. that determines whether or not a relay is required. i think 12 is the right part. can always call and ask the dealership too.

Re: 7th gen trunk pop solenoid mechanism

12 looks right, since it says power. i think the other part that doesnt show up is manual. all of us got ours from handaaccessories.com but im not sure they still have it or which section to look under.

Re: 7th gen trunk pop solenoid mechanism

Thanks guys. I will then have to get the part and install it. Anyone know where I can find the installation manual for the Python 460HP? I need to know what wire to hook up to a relay (and even if it's needed)...
