I drive an 03 civic si. I bought it about a month ago with 80xxx on it. It just started grinding if i rev. high before shifting into second. It won't actually go into gear it just grinds and pops out. The same thing happens if im rolling forward a little and try to put it in reverse. I don't know what the problem is, any ideas?

Lets start simple, is this your first 5 speed? Just checking for user error before we go any further...I ask because you should never be rolling forward and try to put the transmission into reverse...stop the car completely then shift.

yea its my first five speed but i've driven manual cars before this is just the first one that i actually own. I know its not good for the car to shift into reverse while moving forward but i don't think the gears are suppose to grind if my foots on the clutch.

they will grind even if your foots on the clutch and your trying to go into reverse like that. def not a good thing to be doing.

Ok so that explains the reverse but what about the grinding shifting into second gear?

thats what i was thinking. It only grinds when i rev high in first i think its just that the gears aren't matching up. I need to take my intake out and bring it over to the dealership (they wont touch my car with the K&N intake on).
