Well, seems my power steering pump is starting to go. Only when I first start the car up after not being driven for a while, it does not work for the first few turns and squeals. Then after that it works fine. I replaced the drive belt, does the power steering run on a separate belt? The fluid is okay. If the pump is going how long can I drive it without doing any further damage? Do I have to get it fixed or can I just drive the car without power steering? The pump is 250 dollars on majestic honda, are there any internal parts I can replace for cheaper that would fix the pump? Or is this a waste of time. Any help would be appreciated!

ps has its own belt yes, and it could be loose. eventually you need to replace the whole pump if its not working properly. and no you cannot just drive without ps, it will cause damage to the rack unless you convert to a breather system to allow fluid circulation.

Probably just the belt then... I was not sure if it ran on it's own belt. I'll try replacing that first. Thanks gearbox.

yeah we have two belts. one for crank/ac/alt and another for crank/ps.

Power steering belt has been replaced, still does it... hmm... I tried to add a bit of fluid too that did not help either... It's well between the lines ... I'm going to see if it gets worse and replace the pump if i need to

you could also take it apart and try to overhaul it.

aye... and oy.... I'd definitely give that a try before replacing it. How long does majestic honda take to deliver... to canada? Also, are there any parts in there that could most likely be broken that I should order before taking it apart?

i dont think the inside parts are available. you pretty much clean it up or something and see what happens. the service manual has a 10 page section on rebuilding it.
