Bondo
Bondo
so, a while back I was backing out of my girlfrend's driveway and wasn't paying too much attention and grazed her dad's older model diesel ford medal truck bumper. Needless to say, the bumper went unharmed, but my civic didn't
.
Long story short, I've got a good size dent above my driver's side rear wheel. it's shallow but large, and can be seen plainly when the sun hits it (its a black car, so it shows up really well
Is Bondo a good solution to this problem? I went to a body shop and they quoted me 1600 to fix the dent, realign the panel, and fix the minor damage done to the taillight. It's worth nowhere near $1600 IMO. Do body shops do Bondo work? What's the best way to attack this problem?

Re: Bondo
no bondo is a terrible solution. it will crack in cold weather and cause all sorts of problems. you want it fixed the right way but the price you got seems way too high. just shop around and you will find something reasonable. when i was looking at getting my type-r grill lip painted (just the lip, a small section that prolly takes a few passes of spray paint), i got prices anywhere from $50-300. needless to say i got the $50 job and it looks perfect. talk to the shop you decide on and ask if you can wait until they work on another car with your same color and bring it in after. that way they charge much less cause they dont have to mix a batch of paint just for you.
Re: Bondo
I've used bondo but it is for small applications. I wouldn't recommend using it for big sized dents. Many people also apply it wrong by putting too much on. Your are supposed to lay it on it coats just like painting. Then paint over it. You can try it but if it's a decent sized dent then I wouldn't even bother.
