Need some advice
Need some advice
I have a 2005 honda civic and the window on the passenger side drops down three tho four inches took it into the dealer and said it was the door motor and that he could not slide it back into place so my window is stuck down and can not come back up i thougth he would be able to return it to the fully closed postion and save me the $500 he wants to fix it. Just wondering if this sounds like a door motor and if it is how hard is it to replace by your self any help would be great

well if you hear motor sounds when pressing the window switch, its not the motor. sometimes the window falls off its track, or something else couldve been broken.

Re: Need some advice
Disconnect the window and door lock stuff and Pop the door panel off, pull back the plastic. Take a look at whats going on in there. It might be a simple fix, maybe not... the more you try and work back there the more frustrated you will get. Once once you get this far will you really find the answer to your problem.

I've fixed three of these before but it was on my old camry. All three times, my motor was bad/cable was frayed. The first time i did this fix, i pulled the entire assembly from a camry in a junkyard for 5 bucks. The motor crapped out on me though so I got a new assembly from ebay for around 40 bucks, new. about a year later another window crapped out on me so i repeated the process on the other door.
In the end, all power windows work the same and are fairly easy to get to. just open up the door and find out what's wrong in there. If the motor is not working, you can get the whole thing pretty cheap on ebay and the install isn't too bad either. good luck.
