Hi Guys~

MY '05 Civic EX guage cluster started shorting out yesterday and I can't figure out why. It always happens in the same sequence, and always when driving on the highway. First the ABS light starts going on and off, while the stereo shorts out and the gauges bounce around. Second the SRS light comes on, and then the BRAKE light. Once all 3 are lit up, the guages stop bouncing up and down and the whole cluster shuts off completely. The engine is unaffected and drives normally. And the only other thing that seems to be affected is the stereo, and the wipers which work but VERY slowly. If my headlights are on during this, and I shut them off, the gauges start bouncing up and down again in an attempt to turn back on. This all lasts for less than 5 min, then returns to normal.
The gauge cluster is stock, and I just replaced the battery in the car last month, at which time the alternator was working perfectly. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Sounds like a low voltage situation to me. Got a meter handy ??

Thanks Craig. I ended up just bringing it to a garage today. They said it's the alternator. Hopefully that's all it is
