Aftermarket Exhaust Manifold vs OEM

I was told by the mechanic that I need a new exhaust manifold for my 2002 Civic DX with 144k on it. My exhaust manifold had cracked. The shop wanted $900 to install a Honda OEM part. They said I could leave it with the crack for a few thousand miles, but I should have it fixed soon.

I was thinking of buying the part and installing it myself. I found two choices online.

The link above is $352 shipped.

I found a Honda OEM for $517.

Should I go with the aftermarket part or is it worth it to get the OEM part? I'd like to get 200k or more out of this car.

You should just do an ex exhaust swap. Find a used ex downpipe, and get an ex header, and take it to a muffler shop to install a connector between the downpipe and the rest of your exhaust.

Would that be cheaper? Are there any other advantages?

Re: Aftermarket Exhaust Manifold vs OEM

if you can afford it, convert to the EX exhaust system with an aftermarket header like the dc sports. the stock ones crack because of the heatshields.

Re: Aftermarket Exhaust Manifold vs OEM

dc headers are basically what 95% of people who upgrade their headers go for. why wouldnt it be a good choice of brand? i say go for it.
