removal of air bag seats...need help

Alright guys, I have a 2002 Civic EX with the side air bags built into the seats. My problem is that I want to replace them with newer seats. How do i take the seats out without damaging the rest of the front air bags and not having the side air bags deploy in my face. I could use all the help i can get. And do I have to go anywhere or get special documents to do this? Thanks again!

Nope, it's easy as long as the seats you're putting in have side air bags too and the clips fit. If you're replacing them with side airbag-equipped Honda seats, you'll be fine.

To remove your current seats, disconnect the battery and undo the 4 bolts holding the seat to the floor, do the rears first, slide the seat all the way back, then unbolt the fronts. Tip the seat backwards and undo the 3 wiring clips underneath the seat. Done!

When installing your new seats, just don't re-connect the battery until you have connected the wiring clips otherwise you'll pop your airbag light. That's it. Pretty easy.

I was looking at some new seats that dont have the side airbags. And the problem is that what happens when i install the new seats, turn on the car, and the car reads that the seats arent attached. I reall cant find any that I like that have the air bags. I was looking at the Si seats but I dont want leather.

You have to get creative on the wiring and run resistors to make the car think you've still got side bags. This is a bit more advanced but have a search around as I know folks had to have done it in the past.
