Two quick questions
Two quick questions
Hey everybody, I have had my 01 EX Coupe for 2 years and I just have two quick questions....first is my gas peddle is pretty hard to push in, i have driven older civics and theirs have been pretty easy to push in or lose. Does anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it? it makes it annoying sometimes when going up a hill and needing to hit the gas to downshift. Next is a question I have been wondering for a long time and can't get a straight answer when searching (yes i have searched). Do short ram intakes reduce gas mileage and low end HP? with gas prices going up I would like to improve my gas mileage but if an intake is going to reduce it or reduce my low end making me rev up higher before each shift (it usually shifts around 3000-3500RPM).
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Two quick questions
- check your throttle cable
- with sri, you lose low end torque. when at low speed or when you are just about to run, air circulation in your engine bay is not that good causing your throttle body to suck in hot air coming from your engine. as you go faster, it helps the air to circulate more producing colder air for the intake.
you can replace your sri with cai if you still want the aftermarket parts. on the other hand, i suggest that you put your oem intake assembly and buy a good filter like k&n.
i saw some thread here that shows the power difference in HP with oem intake, sri, and cai. the test was not conducted with civic but with nsx (i think).
goodluck!

Re: Two quick questions
i didn't really notice a difference in gas mileage with my SRI. i thought SRIs were supposed to better for low end, and CAIs better for high end power. Intakes on the D17 don't really provide enough power increase to do much to gas mileage. If you want one, get it, but don't expect big changes in power, or mileage.
