My Civic's getting HOT
So i was sitting at the bank drive up today waiting on my deposit to go through, and as I was about to leave I noticed that my temp. gauge was 1/4 of the way above the half way mark on my gauge. It's only about 50 degrees here right now so I know that the weather isnt causing it. As I drove off the temperature went back to normal, so now I know there is a definite issue with some cooling in the engine. Then when i got home I let it idle in the garage for 5-10 minutes with the hood up. Sure enough the engine was getting hot again and the temp. gauge went back to where it was when i was at the bank. What I did notice however is that the fans are not kicking in. Is it my thermonitor or cooling fans that are causing this problem? Or is it something else?
Re: My Civic's getting HOT
it could be the coolant temperature sensor not working or Relay - Radiator Fan. causing the fan not to kick on. at high way speed the air flowing through the radiator is enough to keep it cool. you can check ur radiator fan with a volt meter and see its working. check for continuity in the winding. if it is good, it could be either of the temp sensor or Radiator Fan Relay

Re: My Civic's getting HOT
I haven't used my A/C in almost three years since ive moved to Colorado. I supposed I could freeze my car out for a couple minutes while I test it out. I really just need this damn car to stay together for three more weeks before I sell/trade it in.
