Parking Lot Dents

Well, it finally happened. I deliberately park far away when I go to the stores, but someone still managed to open their door into the side of my car. Man it bites, they even left a little white mark. Now I have to fiddle with touch up paint and stuff. And it shows up just soo well on a black car. Anyone else have this prob? I just wish I saw the person who did it...

Somebody literally rubbed thier bumper across the front of my car left the corner with at least 20 different white marks. Luckily no dents. I got some mcguires rubbing compound and got the marks off, then I put a coat of wax on it to seal the paint. It seemed to work, the marks are gone and no damage to the paint.

Hmmm... I had the same shat happen to me over the weekend (right side of the front bumper). Couple of the scratches are deep which will require some touch up paint... unless this McGuire rubbing compound works better than the 3M rubbing compound I used?

Additionally, I had some **** key in two deep scratches on the trunk lid, right by the Honda symbol. Unfortunately, the touch-up paint looks bad... but better than the white mark (on my silver Civic). And finally, I've got two gashes running on my rear quarter panels which appear to be made by rocks while on the highway. Here in Detroit, MI, roads are so bad that I'm not surprised that my car has handeled so wel after nearly 6 months.

Going to put touch up paint on those areas once the weather starts co-operating.

Anyone else have better ways of addressing deep scratches?

I had someone.. while driving.. start moving over into my lane, their bumper rubbed up against the side of my bumper and left a white mark across it. I was soo pissed. But then I hit a deer a month later and that side ended up getting replaced anyhow..
And then the otherday I was at the mall before it opened to go to the coffee shop that opens early, so there were tons of parking spots.. when I got back to my car some lady parked right next to me... not only did she park next to me out of all the damn spots to park she parked so close to me that she dinged my car when she opened her door to get out...

Yeah our cars seem to get dinged up easily, but I'm sure that is probably the case with most other cars as well unfortunetly

Here's a good one, chalk one up for the little guy!!!...

I was sitting in a parking lot eating a sandwich in my CIVIC when a soccer mom in a FORD EXPLORER pulled in right next to me (of course there were a ton of other spots that had no cars around). I heard a loud thud on my passenger side door. I looked over and there she was with her door up against my car saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry". I just shook my head but I waited for her to come out of the store she went into and told her she had to pay for the ding. She got all uppity with me and tried to leave. I told her "So, you're going to leave? That's a hit and run? That's a crime!" She panicked and said "I'm gonna call the police! You're threatening me!!!" I said, "go ahead" So she did and when the cop came he said. "Did you hit the man's car with your door?" She replied "Well yes but..." the cop said, "thats all I needed to know." He gave me her insurance information. I got a quote from the "dent wizard" guy for like $150. Two weeks later her insurance company mailed me a check. She got all cocky by calling the cops and in the end she hung herself.

Yup happened to me too. I always park far away and always next to a curb or the end of a row so that only one car could possibly park next to me. And one day (4 or 5 months after I had the car), I get back to my car and there it is, the first ding. I just thought to myself, "They finally got to her. My baby is no longer perfect." Then in the next week, I got 3 more little dents. I swear, after you get one, they just start pouring in.

I had my car for a month and i was walking out of taco bell. This guy pulls up in an old chevy and opens his door right into mine without thinking twice..
I ran up yelling at him and i was with 2 friends, so the guy was crapping his pants. He said he was currently in a trial for some previous stuff and would love it if i didn't report it to the police. Then he got really scared and took off.. I called the police and had them run the plates and he was arrested for hit and run. whoo hoo!

i was @ a park with a base ball field near by and a baseball slammed into my passenger side fender. i got home and removed the wheel and the plastic fender molding and was able to pop the dent out. no scratches or chips but there is still a little wrinkel from the impact i'm going to try the dry ice trick when i get a chance to smooth out the wrinkel.

If anyone's interested in knowing if there's a Dentbuster in their neighbourhood as pazzmore recommends:

Dentbusters Nationwide (YellowPages.com)

Cheers,

People just don't respect others peoples cars. We pay so much for them and people just don't watch their door. I watch my door everytime I open my door why can't they. So far I only have one door ding but that still pisses me off since I take such good care of my paint.

I agree. Fortunately, aside from the intentional scratches, I have no dings on the side of my car... except for the right corner of my front bumper. Someone assumed that they could pull in the parking lot with their Extraburban or some other large land mass vehicle. Oh well...
