problem with seat belt button
problem with seat belt button
Ok the plastic "button" that holds the latch half way up the belt when not in use has fallen off. So basically whenever I get in the car I gotta dig for the latch between the seat and the floor, its rather annoying.
I purchased the new piece and installed it with a small vise and some 3M plastic adhesive, but it fell off after a week. I purchased another one and before I try installing it I would like to know if anyone knows the proper way to attach one perminentally. The dealer wanted to charge me an hours labor witch is outrageous for a $3 part.
I know this is a small issue, its just really annoying because I like to have a complete car with as little issues as possible.
Thanks in advance.

well to replace the whole bet is out of the question because the retainer comes as a piece and that is super expensive. And I dont think you want to peirce the belt for your safety. JBWELD is the ****. Any high strength epoxy. Take some 200 grit sandpaper and sand it down then use the epoxy and put the button on there and hold it with a C lamp and LET IT CURE FOR THE TIME IT SAYS. that **** will never come off.

They used to come apart and fall out on my Toyotas, They would only sell you the entire seat belt assembly complete.
I just got color matched buttons from the fabric store and sewed them on.
