hey im new

hey everyone i have a 2001 ex coupe. i wish i had found this site before. i have had every problem that has been listed in this forum. I serisouly hate my car and i want to get rid of it. im just so dissapointed that honda even produced such a car. about 2 weeks after had the car im just driving to old navy when my car gets stuck at 5000 rpm. i turn the car off and on and still no dice. i ended up having it towed to my dealer and they kept it for 3 days. they told me that my throttle was stuck open and they fixed it. about a week after, there was a horrible snowstorm in chicago. of course i had to work so i turn my car on and get the heater going. i start hearing a cracking noise and i notice a hairline crrack on the bottom right corner. i was so pissed. i could not believe that i was taking the car back to the dealer in less than a week. i guess there was a recall for this so i get the winshield replaced for free in a day. at this point i figured i had a bad stroke of luck and I would finally get to enjoy my car. WRONG. about 3 days later im driving to work when all of a sudden my car makes a loud thunk and the rear of my car starts tilting. i manage to get my car to the shoulder of the road. i get out and i see that my passenger rear wheel is missing i quickly run back and manage to retrieve my missing wheel and put it in my car and call aaa. they tow my car back to the dealership. apparently what happened was the lug nuts were not tightened enough and my wheel came loose. they started blaming me for it and i ended up paying 2000 for a new wheel and some body damage. at this point i was about to lose it. i just hated my car. ive had my car for 4 weeks now and im starting to get the slow driver side window and boiling engine problem too. i cant stand this car. im so dissapointed over this car. i was looking forward to modifying this car but i feel like the dealership has the car more often than i do. is there somethign severly wrong withe the new civics? was soming messed up in the assembly lines? i cant stand this car and im thinking of selling it. this is not a flame thread. i am just telling you guys what my experience was with this car. if you guys have a perfect civic, more power to you but has anyone encountered my situation?

bummer dude. sorry to hear about all your problems. you might want to look into the lemon law thing. I don't think you would qualify just yet, but you might want to look into anyways.

did you ever take your wheel off? if not then it was NOT your fault and you need to call american honda and maybe a lawyer too to get your $2000 back. make sure you threaten honda with a lawsuit for the tire flying off (that is an extremely serious safety issue, you could have been killed!) american honda will more than likely give you your money back. if they wont give it to you, then call a lawyer and file the lawsuit against them. and file a complaint on the dealer with the BBB. i doubt it would actaully come down to that though. remember that this will only work if you never took the wheel off. if you did, then it probably was your fault

Whenever a car manufacturer totally redesigns a car in their line-up, it usually has defects and recalls due to changes in the factory assembly process. You should never buy a car that has just been newly redesigned like the 2k1 Civic. Notice how the 2K2 Civic seems to have all the problems fixed! But still, I can't believe that the dealers aren't being a little more sympathetic with you. Email American Honda and let them know that your dealer is giving you problems (especially the part about the wheel and body damage).

GET ONE OF THOSE A-HOLE TRIAL LAWYERS.... your wheel flying off that can be directly traced to their negligent action is a gold mine. It's not like you were responsible for any of the damage caused by the wheel or possible injury to yourself. Perfect case to have them clean up their act at the cost of more lawsuits. My dad had his hubcap fly off last time he came away from the toyota dealer because of some tech guy's mistake... seems like many of them just don't care.

Too bad not all Hondas are as reliable and well-built as mine was (and most everyone else here)

Damn, that's just a string of bad luck. And that wheel falling off sounds really strange... howcome you didn't feel any shimmy or vibration right before the wheel popped off? Cuz there should have been plenty of advance warning if the lugs were not tight. And what are the chances that ALL 4 lugs were loose at the same time? Sounds to me like someone took off your wheel and didn't put it back on properly... and so it may not have been Honda's fault there, I dunno.

i hear where your coming from...i hate my car too, i have a 2001 lx...i'm in the process of trading it in, for either a 01 Prelude type SH or 99-00 civic si...i have had nothing but problems from my car, i have had my car since July,2001...i have had nothing but problems...to start it, there has been a lot of times when it took for ever abd a day to start my car, then about a month after i had it i heard sometype off rattle...was not sure of what it was...finally to it to the shop, they said it was my exhaust came loose from the cal. conver. (they replaced the hard wear) the noise went away for about a week...i have my car in the shop 3 other times since the first...it has been a week since i got it out of the shop...

i'm just sick of it...so i'm trading in my car for something else...i know i will be happier that way...i know my girlfriend will be happier too, no more of me complaining about my car...

so if i was you i would trade it in and get something else...
