Door Sensor
Door Sensor
The problem is that I believe my door sensor on the driver side is not working. I have an 02 civic ex. I first noticed this problem when I would get out of my car while my head lights were turned on and as soon as I opened the door, I would here a beeeeeeeeeeep, not beep beep beep or anything, I dont know how to describe that sound. Now there is no beeeeeeeep, and since then I have already forgotten to turn off my headlights a few times and have since lead to the battery dying. Also, the interior lights are set to turn on when the doors open. They will only turn on when the passenger side door opens. I am thinkin its either a few that blew or it is the actual door sensor. If anyone could help me Id appreciate it.

Update: I took apart the door sensor, the door sensor had popped out and my guess is it just deactivated. I plugged the door sensor back into the rubber grommit that goes through the body that touches the door, screwed it back in and it works again. Success, this thread is now closed

the little door button on the inside of the door that gets pressed when the door is shut probably broke off and fell in... happened to mine and was replaced for free at honda
Re: Door Sensor
Found something really similar in daughter's 04 Civic but with a completely different solution. Dome lights quit working when doors (either door) opened, no key in ignition warning when the doors opened, door locks quit working unless the key was at at least at Accessory, and the remote control key fob quit working as well (panic buttton included).
I checked out both door switches but it didn't make sense that they'd both go at once. I started going through the fuses under the steeing wheel. No luck, all OK.
Then I took a look at the fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment and found a 10 Amp fuse in slot 9 labled "back up lights" was blown. (Back up lights were working fine, so this must be some sort of a misprint maybe or "perhaps a devious trick by Honda to run up service fees for their dealerships" said his other, more paranoid personality ;^)
Sooooo anyway, replaced the 10 Amp in slot 9 and it all came back. Happy wife, happy daughter so I'm a hero, at least until something else goes FUBAR and I can't fix it.

Re: Door Sensor
^^^ It is not part of the reverse lights circuit. The "back up" fuse is for items that require a constant power source (radio clock & station memory, keyless etc...)
