not bad to go a little over redline but don't make it a habit...less you like adjusting the valve clearance to avoid the high pitched clicking and such...
seriously if you value your 7thgen auto's tranny and reliability I would suggest not shifting like your doing, just leave it in D, you're not towing or driving on hilly terrain are you?

yea maybe i shouldnt do it.. but its not like im doing nuetral drops or anything, i mean do you think its bad to drop it to d3 then shift back up to drive at about 5-6 rpms? doesnt seem like it is bad but if u say it is ill stop

just dont do it everyday and u'll be fine. if its accidentally, once in awhile, u wont die.
i accidentally downshifted from 5th to 2nd.. at like 65 mph and it went to like 7,500 rpm (or was it 7800? I duno).
car didnt blow up. so yeah.
but keep it up, and u'll bend some valve and other crap.
btw, dont do it in your auto. it's just not a good idea on the auto tranny, and it'll end up taxing your transmission more than your engine.
