Question Loud popping noise when revving @ high rpms

i tried looking all over the forum about this problem so dont get mad at me if this question has already been answered. i dont know if anyone else has a problem with this but sometimes when i rev it hard at either 1st or 2nd gear something in the engine bay pops really loud at random times. it scares the **** outta me when it happens. it only happens when i hit the gas pedal hard and i can feel it on the gas pedal maybe cuz its so much of a noise. almost sounds like a backfiring but it comes from the engine not the exhaust and i dont know if im messing sumthing up and if i should take it into the dealer. oh and it mainly happens when i rev it at high rpms and shift to 2nd right away...someone please help!

Yea, it's called valve overlap. Your valves aren't adjusted properly. You know how a 4 cycle motor works. You have SUCK ( AIR AND FUEL COME IN ) SQUISH ( YOUR PISTONS COMPRESSES THE MIX) BANG ( THE MIX IS IGNITED) BLOW ( IT IS RELEASED AS EXHUAST ) You have four valves per cylinder, two valves for intake, two valves for exhaust, when two are taking air in, the other two are close, when two are letting exhaust out, the intake valves should be closed. Valve overlapping occurs when your intak, or exhuast valves don't close all the way. Sounds like your intake valves on at least one cylinder are open when you are expelling exhuast and it is coming back up through your intake. Get this fixed soon.

I would let the dealership work on it, they specialize on Honda motors, and although you might pay more, i bthink they would do a better job.

Uh. Valve overlap is part of all camshafts. Its not "bad." You just have to have the correct amount. Where are you located? I may be able to help you out.
