Vibrating Problem
People,
I have a problem. My steering wheel vibrates when I am on the high way doing 110Km (60m/h approx.)
It does not happen at slow speeds or if I break. I do have rims (17's) with no Hub Centrics...would this be the problem?
I had my rims on last year and I don't remember the stering wheel vibrating this much?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

This has been discussed many times before. Your problem can be any of the following:
1) Out of balance wheels/tires : get them re-balanced.
2) Your aftermarket alloys need hub centric rings in order for them to mount properly onto the car.
3) One or both of your front rims are bent (hit any curbs recently?)
Based on the speed your vibrations starts, I betting that it's a simple case of problem no. 1.

You need to get an ALIGNMENT done, not balance. Mine also vibrates over 65mph and I have stock rims. Over time the alignment will be off and cause the vibration. It also reduces gas mileage.

Thanks again for the help.
Rob
I have done everything that was mentioned above, and
I still get vibration in my steering wheel.
I am soooo lost?????
I love my rims, but i might have to sell them.........
Any help!!!!!!

Update: Now my old tires made the car vibrate over 55mph with the stock 15 inch rims. I just got my new tires on and balanced (alignment tomorrow), and the vibration is gone. The old tires were just balanced recently when I got stock alloy rims put on. So I don't think balancing is the problem, or alignment. Maybe it's your old tires that have uneven wear or other problems.
I have the OEM firestone on my car, in the morning on the highway I get the same virbration at 110 k/h a short period of time, I think it's a flat spot from overnight cold here in Toronto. After the tires heat up it goes away.
I need TP for my bunghole

Unless you have a flat spot or jacked up a rim (which you would know about)
it is one of two things
1. a tire through a weight
2. the front end is out of elignment.
Go to a shop and pay about 40 US dollars and have it done.
they will balance and elign and all will be well.

Just to clear something up. Its IMPOSSIBLE for an alignment to cause the car to vibrate. The alignment being out can cause tire wear. Bad tire wear can cause vibration. But there is no way possible for an alignment to directly cause a vibration. Vibrations are caused from out of balanced rotaing masses. Doing an alignmnet only changes angles of your suspension it doenst change rotating mass in any shape or form.
If you had it balanced and still have the problem than it may be a broken belt in your tire.. if it is a broken belt than there maybe a road hazard warrenty on your tire.. I have seen this alot.. look at the tread wear.. if it is up and down, then more than likly it is a broken belt.
If the rims you have are like my, you need to static balance for rims. Some garages use the normal weights that show from the out side and what some garages do is use the same weights, but install them to the inner rim to counter act the balance from the factory giving you balance. Get your balance done by static balance, it cost more the weights are self adhesive, installed by the flat inner surface.
i had same problem....nothin would fix it..i tried everything....ended up taking it to honda and they told me i had to have new rotors.....i got them under warranty and while i was at it i went ahead and got new brakes....cleared it all up.....but they told me it was my rotors...

Yes this is the problem. It is the stock rotors, they overheat and cause this problem. After many times of powerful braking and over heating they will warp and or they can happen when they get wet when they are extremely hot. So just go and get brembo rotors or after market rotors that are better and can withstand the overheating.
