Everytime my car is in idle, I hear this clicking/rattling noise coming from my engine. I was wondering if it could be the valves going? or being dirty already? Ive tried searching through the fourm and found this tsb http://www.nhtsa.com/TSBScans/sb626655.pdf .
Will this tsb actually cover the noise? The tsb applies to 2001 civic ex...so i dunno....One thing is for sure though, I know when I bought the car it did not make no clicking/rattling noise? Is it cause the car is getting older?? Its just a 2002 ex with just 30k....
Your suggestions would be appreciated.

That clicking is normal operation noise from the valves. You should be lucky it's not as loud as on the Jettas. Sounds like their engine is about to break.
But yeah, it's nothing to worry about if it's that constant ticking sound. Mine has done it since day 1.

no it's your valve lash... it needs to be adjusted. take your valve cover off and turn your motor by hand and wrench to TDC top dead Center. next you need a lash tool to make the proper gap between your rocker arm and vavle spring,(there is a screw you adjust on each valve).
under the hood there is a sticker that tells you the appropiate gap somthin like .08 +-.2 intake
.10 +-.2 exhaust
exactly do as it says. tha valves on the intake side use the wrench with the .08 gap and vice versa.
the ticking is the one that is off, and you'll have to adjust also with the motor 180 degrees from TDC.
your carr will sound 10 times better and make sure you don't make them to snug that is bad. your rocker arms should have a little movement between the valve and arm. that is what the gap wrench is for.
