Question Oil pan "wet"?

I know this might sound like a ridicuously dumb question but I am not by any means a mechanic and was not taught this stuff...anyway, is it normal for the oil pan to be a little "wet" with oil around the drain plug? It is not dripping or leaking but it just looks like oil is all around the plug and under the pan a little. Thanks for any input!

Project2k2 is on a distinguished road
when I change my oil, oil gets all over the bottom of my oil pan, just all over the place. Most likely what it is.

Kloverz has a little shameless behaviour in the past
yea you should clean it up and see if there is a possible leak, but it is mostly from oil change.

Green Civic is an unknown quantity at this point
If its a little wet, its should be ok. As long as there isnt any dripping or leaking coming from the plug. After you get it serviced or you change the oil, jack it up and wipe all the oil off and let it go for a while. Then check it every now and then.

I have two instances where the dealer did the oil change and the plug was not tighten enough. Check and tighten if need be, then clean the bottom of the pan.

If you have a garage, you can put some newspaper, or cardboard, and just place it under your car to see if there is any leaks.... or check the dip stick......
